The clock has become a universally recognized indicator of the world’s vulnerability to catastrophe from nuclear weapons, climate change and new technologies emerging in other domains.

We are at 2 minutes until midnight. There are 13,865 nuclear bombs on the planet right now. There was 70,000 + during the cold war, so I guess that’s a good thing.

Atomic bombs work by nuclear fission, splitting heavy atoms of enriched uranium or plutonium. A hydrogen bomb, in contrast, ignites a fusion reaction, similar to how the sun works.
